A former Peugeot master technician told me that re-setting the BSI box would cure it but the local dealer said that wouldn't work. He said re-installing the software should work but when it didn't he said I needed a new unit at a cost of £1600! Any ideas which would save me splashing out £1600 would be greatly appreciated. I have Q's that you might be able to answer cos fiat forum is just roundabout. Have i broke the disc loader as it won't eject. Try'd reboot by holding DARK button for so many seconds if i have damaged the unit can it be repaired or can i put a different unit in or has the head unit got to be sink'd with the car and tha screen??????

My RT3 has colored monitor, and suddenly after 5,5 years RT3 can't play any CD. I remind you that the CD slot is used for the Navteq Maps too. So, no music (wav or mp3) and no Navi. I can't see that changing to any of the versions would stop the steering wheel controls working? After all you are just changing the language. I would get another source of the update disk though as yours could have errors, my copy has updated several eurovan2's without any problems. It does take some time and ejects and restarts several times. I used to have a disk that could change settings ( not firmware), one if the things you could do was change the voice from male to female and vice versa amongst other things, just thinking if language was an option too. And yes a new RT3 unit costs about £1700 and a new screen will also cost around £1600 so unfortunately these equipments are not cheap.
